South Funen Archipelago/Denmark - April/May 2014

At the beginning of May we did a one week trip in the South Funen Archipelago/Denmark.

We started in Sønderborg/Als and traveled to Dyvik/Als, where we arrived in the evening.

The next morning we hiked 6km to Nordborg.

We enjoyed very much the nature reserve Oldennor and the spring blossoming all around.....

The castel of Nordborg is a boarding school these days.

After this hike we set sails and arrived at the island Kalvø later that day.

On our third day we reached the island Årø.

After a wonderful relaxed and inspiring day on Årø our journey took us to the island Bagø. We rented some bicycles by putting the money in an old milk can. Buying an ice creme at the museum worked the same way.

Next to the lighthouse we found the interestingly graved stone.

Our next stop was Faldsled, because our harbor guide told us, that we could do some groceries here. That would have been true, if we would have been there later in the year. But that early everything was closed. Still it was a nice and quiet evening at the beach where we found a lot thunderbolts.

When we started in Bagø there was hardly any wind and Magdalena took the chance to be towed in the dinghy.

Next day we made it to the island Avernakø. There we found a little shop and did our groceries. At the beach, which was full of stones in all different sizes we were lucky to find many fossils.

From Avernakø we took a little detour to Germany and visited Langballigau at the Flensburger Förde. We have been here two years ago and enjoyed the atmosphere in the harbor and the delicious food in the small restaurant "Anna & Meehr" directly at the sailors club.

Next day our first vacation this year ended being back in Sønderborg. We were lucky with the wether the whole week which was mostly sunny and nice 20-25°C at daytime.
