Chess Flower (Fritillaria meleagris)







The Chess Flower is a perennial flowering plant of the Liliaceae family.

It used to be wildly growing all over Europe. Since the natural habitat are wet meadows within full sunshine were more and more dried for cultivation, the Chess Flower is an endangered species. It is now almost exclusively growing as ornamental plant.

The Blossoms can be purple-pink or white with light green chessboard pattern.
