Native to Europe and Western Asia cuckooflower is an important food plant for the orange tip butterfly (Anthocharis cardamines) and mining bee (Adrena).
Cuckooflower grows extensively on marsh area (and in our garden....? ;-)) and was therefore made plant 2006 by the Foundation for Nature Protection Hamburg and by the Loki Schmidt Foundation to indicate the endangerment of this special habitat.
