Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata)




Alliaria petiolata is a biennial plant in the Mustard family.
This plant is native to Europe, West and Central Asia Northwest Africa, Iberia, The British Isles and North Scandinavia. Mostly it can be found in deciduous forest.

The leaves smell of garlic. In medieval it was used as a spice.

It is a food plant for the severely endangered moth Lithostege farinata.
