We visited the town Wismar/Germany by boat in spring 2013.
Located at the end of the Wismar Bay at the eastern part of the German Baltic Sea coast, Wismar is a beautiful town with a well reconstructed historic center, which is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It has about 43.000 inhabitants. In former times it belonged to the Hanseatic League, a commercial and defensive confederation of late medieval times.
We especially liked the three old churches St. Georgen, St. Nikolai and St. Marien, which are excellent examples of brick gothic, a specific style of gothic architecture in northern Europe.
