Skjerhalden/Norway - 08/02/2016
Skjerhalden was our last harbor in Norway this year.....It is a bustling yet relaxed place and we had a very uneventful afternoon here ;-)
Evjesundet/Norway - 08/01/2016
Later that day we sail the Oslo Fjord to Evjesundet, a very beautiful double bay with a wonderful landscape surrounding.
Goats in the morning....
We wake up early in the morning and the children had to jump out of the boat immediately, since we had visitors for breakfast.....
There are a few dozen goats on Haoya and their milk is processed at the local cheese dairy we visited yesterday.
Although our two guest might have hope for something better, the children sticked to what the very friendly lady at the dairy explained to us....

Haoya/Norway - 07/31/2016
Later that day, after a morning full of culture at the Kon-Tiki Museum and the Norsk Maritimt Museum Oslo, we sail the Oslo Fjord South to the beautiful island of Haoya.
In the evening we took a wonderful long walk over the island.

Adjacent to the Kon-Tiki Museum (and the wonderful Fram Museum, was saw last year) is the Norsk Maritimt Museum, which we enjoyed very much :-)
Kon-Tiki Museum Oslo/Norway - 07/31/2016
Last winter I read Thor Heyerdahls book about his incredible travel on a self build balsa raft from Peru to the Polynesian islands.
By this amazing journey Heyerdahl and his companions were able to proof, that the ancestors of the people on the island may have come 1500 years ago from the East under the lead of Kon-Tiki, a mystic god and prime father.
The Kon-Tiki museum was enchanting, showing THE Kon-Tiki raft.
As well as the story of this highly unusual journey other expeditions of Heyerdahl were explained.

On our second day in Oslo we made a dinghy tour to the half island Bygdoy, where some of the finest museums of the area are located.

We really enjoyed walking the roof of the 2007 finished opera house. There area around is still under construction.
Aker Brygge Area and Akerhus Castel Oslo/Norway - 07/30/2016
Later that evening we took a walk in the harbor area and the fortress of the Akerhus Castel, before turning to the Oslo opera.
Vigelands Park Oslo/Norway - 07/30/2016
In the afternoon we planed to visit the Vigelands Park. But just when we were about to take the half hour walk there, it started to rain cats and dogs. Therefore we took the tram, which brought us directly to the entrance. It was still raining there, but the park was rather crowded...we soon found out that it was not because of the really interesting, very dynamic sculptures by Gustav Vigeland (1869 -1943) but the park seems to be kind of a hotspot for Pokemon Go......although rain poured down, many, like many people went around mostly in small groups looking on their devices....well our children had some patience to look at the sculptures, but I guess Pokemon Go built a much stronger memory to this place..."Sorry, Gustav!" ;-)
Oslo/Norway - 07/30/2016
Before we reached the capital of Norway, the children wished to go swimming, since it was a rather hot day with about 28°C....We anchored in a bay close to Oslo, rather close to rocks....after a short swimming we felt the anchor might not be fast enough on the rocky ground with swell of the nearby passing speed ferry....anyway we reached Oslo in the afternoon and were guided by the harbor master to a free box at the Aker Brugge Marina. We were just at the center of Oslo and actually we enjoyed it a lot :-)
Bastoy/Norway - 07/30/2016
Well, we did not stay in Lindholmen for the night....Somehow Wolfgang felt to go on....so while we were all falling asleep, he brought us to Bastoy further up the Oslo Fjord. When I wake up the next morning, we were surrounded by a really beautiful bay :-)
Lindholmen/Norway - 07/29/2016
We didn't stay in Verdens Ende, since it was overcrowded with bus tourist and felt not comfortable for us.
Instead we visited Lindholmen. We have been here last year and the children enjoyed very much the endless possibilities to play on the large skerries with forest and water puddles and rocks to climb on.
When we arrived and tried to moor at the rock, it was a really big step for me to get out from the ship onto the rocks (although only a minor step for mankind....;-). I nearly missed my step and felt like I would crushed between boat and the cliffy rocks. Luckily I kind of got my balance back, but my knees were shaking for quite a while after that....
The children enjoyed being here a lot :-)

Verdens Ende/Norway - 07/29/2016
Early in the morning we left Langoy Killen and headed for the Oslo Fjord. Large herons were flying above us.
We had a brief stop at Verdens Ende, at the south end of the fjord. Nice skerries here but too many bus tourists...

Maintenance
Norway's skerries are well maintained and kept clean....
Langoy Killen / Norway - 07/28/2016
We had the most pleasant stay in Langoy Killen. Outside the bay it was rather rough, but here we were very well protected.
We used the day to explore this island. Nearby was an old iron mine. Inside the rocks it was so bitter cold that the humidity condensed at the old entrance. It was really chilly to stand in front of the gate.
The island is still inhabited, although mostly by holiday house owners and only a few farmers.
The atmosphere was kind of enchanted.
We like the old graveyard and the wonderful forest, which covers almost the whole place.

Back in Risør a very nice lady we met at the harbor laundry recommended Langoy Killen to us. It has a very, very, very narrow entrance but the whole bay is very protected. So a good spot for us to stay during the heavy winds of the following days....
